Alexander Bruce was born about 1530 in Airth, Stirlingshire, Scotland.

He married Janet Livingston. She was born about 1535 in Callender, Stirlingshire, Scotland and died 4 October 1599. She was the daughter of Alexander Livingston and Anne Douglas.

Their children were:

William Bruce (born 1565 in Airth, Stirlingshire, Scotland)
